Straight answers to what most prospects want to know before booking a discovery call.
You own everything you provide — your content, photos, business information, and brand assets remain yours throughout our engagement and after. I own the site design, code, hosting infrastructure, and operational systems that keep it running. Your domain is registered in your name from day one.
After the initial 3-month engagement, month-to-month with 30–60 days notice. On exit, you get all your original content back plus a static export of the site as it exists on your exit date. The ongoing operational systems — hosting workflow, reporting tools, Google Business Profile management if applicable — remain with me. You can rebuild elsewhere with any provider using your content.
Two honest reasons. First, it protects both sides — I invest significant work in the setup, you invest in the ongoing service. Three months reflects that mutual commitment. Second, SEO and reputation building genuinely take time to compound. Anything shorter and neither of us gets meaningful data on whether what I'm building is working for your business. After the initial 3 months, you're free to leave any time with 30–60 days notice.
Foundation: bespoke multi-page site, mobile responsive, basic SEO setup, embedded contact form, hosting and maintenance, 1:1 support, monthly performance reports. Growth adds Google Business Profile setup and optimisation, local SEO groundwork, integrated Google Reviews display, calendar booking integration, smart on-site enquiry form, and enhanced monthly reporting. I don't run your marketing, manage your social media, do brand strategy, run advertising campaigns, or handle your sales calls. I build sites that help convert visitors into enquiries. You handle everything downstream of the enquiry.
Honest answer: no. The current portfolio pieces are concept designs demonstrating my approach to different trade categories. They show how I think about design for trades businesses — not existing client work. BuildOps Systems is in early-stage phase, building portfolio through the first small cohort of clients now.
Not yet. I'm still building portfolio through my first clients. When client work is delivered and clients are willing to be referenced, that changes. Until then, honest positioning: I'm new, specialised, priced accordingly for the stage, and offer clean exit terms after the initial 3-month engagement if the fit isn't right.
Fair question. Three honest reasons: I focus exclusively on trades businesses, so I understand the specific context that generic web designers don't. My pricing reflects early-stage — you're not paying agency premium for someone still building portfolio. And the clean exit terms after the initial engagement mean if we're genuinely not a fit, you can leave with your content.
Being honest with you: I don't have past client data to reference yet, so I can't tell you "our clients typically see X." What I expect, based on how sites like these should perform: Foundation-level work should improve conversion from your existing traffic within 4–8 weeks. Growth-level local SEO work compounds over 3–6 months as Google recognises the site's improvements. I don't promise specific numbers because too many variables sit outside my control — competition, service area, pricing, response times to enquiries. I won't invent client references to make the answer sound stronger.
No. Anyone in this space promising guaranteed rankings, guaranteed leads, or guaranteed revenue is misleading you. What I guarantee is craft, honest reporting, consistent work, and transparent exit terms. Not outcomes that depend on your market and business practices.
Content collection at kickoff: about 1–2 hours (photos, business information, brand preferences). During build: I ask specific questions as needed. At review: you look at the finished site and flag anything before launch. Monthly retainer: almost none of your time unless you have specific requests. The whole point is that you focus on running your business while I run your site.
Honest positioning
What this isn't.
- Not a marketing agency.
- Not a lead generation service.
- Not a one-off transaction.
- Not for businesses hunting the cheapest option.
If any of those describe what you're looking for, we're probably not a fit — and being honest about that upfront saves both of us time.
